When it comes to LED Landscape lighting both capacity and location of your power supply need to be considered We stock a full line of low voltage transformers for your LED landscape lighting projects. You will find all of them here. Note that there are waterproof and non-waterproof power supplies
Let's first take a look at capacity. To size your transformer, simply add up the mA consumption of the product you are purchasing to arrive at a total consumption in Amps or milliamps and de-rate that total by 20%.
Example: The Tricluster LED Landscape Lights on this page consume 20mA each. The 9 Star LED Landscape Lights on the same page consume 60mA each.
If you were going to use 20 Triclusters and 20 9 Stars, you would have:
20 x 20 mA = 400 mA
20 x 60 mA = 1200 mA
Total: 1600 mA
It is often convenient to install your LED lighting controls in a dry location, such as a garage. Our smallest dry location transformer, the TX-1A has 1000 mA (1 Amp) total capacity. De-rated by 20%, it has a 800mA max current load. That would be too small for your project. You would need to go up to the TX5A with a maximum capacity of 4000mA.
If you must locate your power supply outdoors, you will need to use an appropriate wet location power supplies. Continue down the page and you will see that we have several options for you in both 12 and 24VDC.
If you do not see a LED power supply large enough for your installation on our transformer page, please contact us! In most cases, we can special order just the right product for your power needs and have it ready to ship within 1-2 business days.
