New LED Lights - Architectural grade LED puck lights and LED accent lighting.

LED lighting products for when you need UL or ETL listings for your 12VDC LED installations.

August 26, 2015

Back in the late 90's when we started to see primitive DC LED bulbs and arrays, few people were concerned about UL or ETL listings on 12VDC products. Low voltage is exactly that ... low. Contact with 12VDC is rarely if ever harmful to a person or animal. We protected our installations, and still do, by being sure an appropriate AC-DC UL or ETL listed power supply is used and that satisfied most building code officers. As the LED lighting marketplace continues to expand into every area imaginable, there are times now, especially in the commercial LED lighting field, that UL or ETL listing is recommended and desirable.

Listing an electrical product with UL or ETL is an expensive, time consuming, and ongoing proposition. That being said, the price tag on these LED products is going to be higher. So before you startle at the price, or put off your lighting renovation, think about whether or not you really need to pay that extra. Chances are that our non-UL/ETL LED lighting products will suit many of your needs and spare you the extra expense. Most are CE listed, which is Europe's UL/ETL counterpart. Buildings and electrical systems in Europe are much older than ours in the US, and there is just as much concern about safety. It still holds true that when you use a quality AC-DC transformer where contact with high voltage can be hazardous.

Nevertheless, you ask and we provide. Last week we introduced a new, UL listed, 120VAC waterproof but not submersible flexible LED strip. Stay tuned to this blog, as later this week, we'll be introducing a flexible LED strip that is submersible and can even stand up to chlorine and salt water. And for our Canadian neighbors, some of these new products also have CSA certifications. This week we have two low voltage products to add to the UL/ETL listed line-up.

UL listed 12VDC puck lightsCheck out our new UL listed 12VDC indoor use puck lights. With a modular connection system including splitters, installation is easier than ever. Constructed of sturdy aluminum, you can have a white, black or brushed aluminum finish to match any decor. They have a removable mounting ring, so can be installed either on the surface, or recessed. CCT choices are 3000K warm white and a dazzling 6200K daylight white, dimmable of course. Cabinet craftsmen, you're going to love these, and lighting designers, we even have photometric data available to you. No guesswork involved.

etl listed 12VDC outdoor lightsSo what do you do when you need a similar LED light fixture to install outdoors? Check out the Spotmod! Constructed with the same high quality aluminum, you have even more choices. Select either a one piece accent light, or the recessed gimbal which allows you to point the light in a direction. When we're talking accent lighting, beam angle also is important, so we offer a 15 degree tight spot or a 45 degree medium flood. Color temperature choices are 3000K warm white and 5000K cool white, and of course, these are also dimmable. The Spotmod offers the same modular connection system which is waterproof.

We have lots more coming in this LED lighting genre, so if you are looking for something in particular and don't see it, please shoot us an email at [email protected]. The perfect LED light might just be on the way in.
