New 4” and 5-6” Recessed Light Retrofits: Replace your can lights with something Better
These new LED retrofit lights have everything a can light should have. They run on 120VAC. They are UL damp rated, Energy Star qualified, dimmable with standard household dimmers, and fit easily into existing cans with no tools. Solidly constructed, with a 3-year warranty and LED life expectancy of 40,000 hours, these LED ceiling light fixtures are built to last.
The 4 inch retrofit has an additional plus. Its 40 degree wide spot has adjustable aim, tilting 30 degrees vertically, and pivoting a full 355 degrees. This makes them the perfect led downlights to use over artwork, displays, or counters, anywhere that needs a precise pool of light. The warm white, 3000K, light puts out 650 lumens, equivalent to a 50W incandescent but drawing only 9W. The solidly constructed body pivots and swivels smoothly, is easily aimed, and stays on target. The metal housing has ample cooling fins (see the earlier blog: “Keeping LED Lights Happy”, on cooling) to shed the heat from the driver, and ensure getting the most out of the 40,000 hour average life (at 8 hours a day, that’s almost 14 years).
The 5-6” retrofits produce 1200 lumens, the equivalent of a 90W incandescent, yet draw only 19W. Unlike the adjustable 4” light, these downlights have a wide, fixed, 90 degree beam. In other areas, they are similar. The bodies of the lights are solidly constructed and UL damp rated. The LEDs have a 40,000 hour average life, and consistent color. They are an excellent, affordable, energy saving and very long-lived alternative to incandescent and fluorescent ceiling lights.
