There are situations where watts consumed is a much more important factor than high performance brightness. If you're enjoying an off-grid lifestyle or if some of your lighting is powered by solar, our 12VDC/12VAC LED medium base bulbs could be right for you.
Compact size, these 12V led bulbs measure 60mm x 120 mm (2.4" x 4.8") and will fit into most light fixtures. With a power consumption of only 5 watts, you'll experience a light output comparable to about 35 watts incandescent.
LED light bulbs have a lower heat output than incandescent bulbs, so these won't heat up your living space like an incandescent or halogen bulb will. Yesterday, we were particularly thankful for that desirable feature. It was 102 degrees. We have a lot of glass frontage in our LED lighting store and it was a bright, sunny day. Lo and behold, our cooler decided to be difficult. You can imagine how many light bulbs there are in a lighting showroom. Temperatures here in Carson City NV are apt to stay around the 100 degree mark throughout the summer months. So even with the cooler working well, we're very glad not to have additional heat generated inside from hot burning light bulbs. We can and do burn some of our LED light bulbs 24-7.
As with our 120VAC LED light bulbs, you have a color temperature choice. Our Daylight White 12V led bulbs have a CCT range between 5500-6000 Kelvin. This clean, white light produces more lumens than the warm white and is best used where you need more ambient light or in surroundings where the colors in the room are cool (blue, light green, white and perhaps stainless steel fixtures). Our Warm white 12V LED bulbs have a CCT range between 3000-3500K. This CCT range provides a light output more reminiscent of an incandescent light source.
It's important to mention that 12v led bulbs must not be installed in a line voltage light fixture by mistake. Not only will the bulb blow instantly, but damage to your light fixture may also occur. So if you have both low voltage and line voltage light fixtures, be sure to keep your low voltage bulbs well marked and segregated from your line voltage bulbs. Also note that although there is a margin of tolerance + and - to 12V DC or AC, these low voltage bulbs will not take the excess voltage that charging systems sometimes produce. You will need to protect the fixture with a voltage regulator or fuse of some kind to prevent damage to the LED bulbs.
As always, we're here to help should you have questions about any of your LED lighting applications. We're looking forward to serving you soon.
