"I
am building a bike light from 12 LEDs. It uses an LM317T voltage
regulator so I can drive the LEDs at exactly the right levels, and
use whatever input voltage I need. It's basically the "stock" regulator
schematic plus 22 ohm resistors for each LED to account for differences
in each LED. That, and the LEDs are split up into two banks so the
voltage differential between the input voltage for the regulator
and the voltage going to the LEDs isn't so great (probably going
to be running them around 12V-14V)."
